Have you ever wanted to try something new or adventurous but thought, “I’m just not the type of person that can do that”?
I have thought that more times than I can count. But somehow, I’ve still learned to ride dirt bikes, scuba dive, and mountain bike. I’ve visited 12 countries, lived abroad for over 4 months, and taken on the challenge of learning new languages. I still battle with those thoughts. “I can’t do it,” “I’m not coordinated enough,” and “I’m not a fast learner like everyone else.”

Next year, I’ll be living in Asia for the year. I’ll be learning a new culture, two new languages, re-entering the scuba diving world, and putting myself very far outside my comfort zone. I would like you to come along with me.
I’ll be sharing the challenges along with the triumphs. You’ll learn about the places I visit and the travel tips I glean. On the way, I hope you start to challenge yourself too. Start small. Those little victories add up.
I’ll also be sharing a curated collection of tips from past adventures. Things like what to wear for specific destinations, how to cook when you’re visiting other countries, and things that have increased my confidence in my capabilities for adventure. There will be practical tips to help you along the way and insights that spark your imagination.
I’m Kara Barros, and this is Karadventures. Welcome aboard, and hang on for the ride!
